2021 Toyota 4Runner Trail Special Edition Rocks Style and Storage

Fans of the Toyota 4Runner can get a new outdoorsy edition of the SUV called the Trail Special Edition. The vehicle is based on the SR5 grade and can be purchased in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Like all current 4Runners, it gets a 4.0-liter V6 that makes 270hp, along with a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Colors available on the Trail Special Edition include Army Green, Cement, Midnight Black, and Super White.
No matter the color is chosen, all have black exterior badging and black seating with tan stitches. The SUV also comes standard with all-weather mats to keep the elements for messing up the floors. Other tidbits include dark gray TRD Off-Road wheels and a Yakima LoadWarrior rooftop cargo basket.

Toyota also includes a custom 40-quart cooler and a sliding cargo tray. The cooler features a lockable lid, freezer-grade gasket, and dual carry handles. It also has a built-in drain plug with a lanyard and a flat top that can be used as a table surface or outdoor seat. The sliding tray has tie-down straps and special brackets to keep the cooler safe while driving. It comes in color-keyed shades for Cement or Army Green versions and Cement on all other versions.

The 2021 4Runner Trail Special Edition starts at $39,490, roughly a $2,000 premium over the entry-level 4Runner SR5, and about $1,000 less than the SR5 Premium.
