2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Is Ready for Off-Roading

Chevrolet has revealed its redesigned 2022 Silverado pickup. While changes have been made to the entire range, the most interesting is the first-ever Silverado ZR2. The ZR2 sits at the top of the Silverado hierarchy and has a standard 6.2-liter V8 engine. The engine makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft. of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The rugged ZR2 also marks the first application of Multimatic 40mm DSSV spool-valve dampers in the Silverado truck. It also packs uniquely tuned springs, maximizing front and rear travel. The truck’s lifted suspension gives it 11.2″ of ground clearance, a 23.4º breakover angle, a 31.8º approach angle, and a 23.8º departure angle.

Other features include front and rear e-lockers, specific off-road chassis and suspension calibration, and ZR2 specific 33-inch off-road tires. A special Terrain Mode provides one-pedal rock-crawling capability. ZR2 buyers also get a special skid plate package for protection and a high-approach steel front bumper, improving clearance and durability. The bumper also features removable end caps for more clearance in tight situations.

Chevy has yet to announce pricing or availability information for the Silverado ZR2.
