2022 Toyota Mirai Includes $15,000 of Free Hydrogen

Toyota has revealed official pricing information for its 2022 Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. The base XLE model is priced starting at $49,500, while the tricked-out Limited grade starts at $66,000. The vehicle rolls on the Toyota GA-L platform, which is rear-wheel drive. The first-generation Mirai was front-wheel drive, and repackaging it to RWD improved ride quality and allowed it to increase the hydrogen storage capacity providing a longer range.

The 2022 Mirai XLE can go 402 miles on a tank of hydrogen compared to the first-generation’s 312 miles per tank. One of the most notable features of the 2022 Mirai for those who purchase or lease is that it comes with up to $15,000 free hydrogen. The upside of using hydrogen to power its electric drivetrain is that fueling only takes a few minutes. The downside is that the hydrogen fueling infrastructure is extremely limited, making the car only usable in certain areas.

The only option for the XLE is an Advanced Technology Package adding $1410 that brings a bird’s eye view camera, front and rear parking assist with automated braking, and front seat foot illumination. On the Limited, 20-inch chrome alloy wheels are available for $1120. Both grades also have some paint colors that add $425 to the price.

Toyota points out that Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard on the Mirai featuring a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The vehicle also has a standard blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert.
