Acura's Reborn NSX Is a Hybrid Fantasy Come to Lifezoom in

The NSX has an impressive legacy, with fifteen years in the marketplace from 1990 to 2005, with help from none other than Ayrton Senna.

After a decade-plus-long hiatus from the marketplace, the 2017 Honda NSX (badged as an Acura NSX in the States) returns as a hybrid sports car with a mid-engine 3.5-liter twin turbo V6 good for 500 horsepower. 48-horsepower electric engine, a nine-speed dual clutch gearbox, plus two more 37-horsepower engines up front. The engines combine to produce 573 horsepower (not the total of each engine, go figure). The electric motor behind the engine provides torque fill, while the two engines at the front assist in torque vectoring to assist turn-in.

With a 0-60 time below 3 seconds, the new NSX delivers sheer supercar fun. Carfection host

Carfection host Drew Stearne gets a chance to hoon the new NSX on mountain roads and on the track at Estoril, the former home of the Portuguese Grand Prix. “Straight lines are overrated,” Stearne says, giggling like a schoolgirl as he drifts. “I will admit I’m not even the best driver on the Carfection team, but today in this car I feel like freakin’ Superman.”
