An Epically Gorgeous Porsche 356 Runs Hard at Goodwoodzoom in

You can’t ask for a much better start than the one Chris Harris gets in Howard Donald’s otherworldly Porsche 356 at the 2015 Goodwood Festival Fordwater Trophy Race. The rear-engine 356 bolts to a comfortable lead ahead of John Young’s pole-sitting Jaguar XK120.

The race pitted production and GT cars raced between 1948 and 1954 – amazing, beautiful vehicles such as the Porsche and Jaguar, along with the likes of the Ferrari 212, Frazer Nash High Speed, Lotus mk6 and Healey Silverstone. But you don’t see much of the field as the race footage focuses on the Porsche 356, including cool in-cockpit perspectives as Harris jockeys with eventual winner John Young (and almost loses control in a few pucker-inducing moments around 2:33).

Despite his impressive start, Harris is unable to hold his lead, coming in a distant second to Young. But winners and losers in this kind of race are of little importance. Instead,
