I like to drive, and being forced to buy an automated vehicle at some point in the future wouldn’t sit well with me. However, having a vehicle that could drive me where I want to go, when I feel like giving up control would be awesome. I’d love to be able to check out the scenery rather than driving on long road trips.

However, having a vehicle that could drive me where I want to go, when I feel like giving up control would be awesome. The radar, lidar and camera-equipped Q5 drove itself 3400 miles across 15 states including DC with 99% of the trip on automated mode without driver input. The automated car was able to navigate difficult settings like four-way stops, which seem to confuse 90% of human drivers.

The car made if from San Francisco to New York city without a hitch, and generated nearly 3TB of data for engineers to study. Check out the video to see the automated car in action.
