Ford Explorer Goes Platinum in Latest Updatezoom in

Ford has a long history of cranking out expensive and luxury laden SUVs going back to the days of the old Eddie Bauer editions. Today, the luxury in Ford lines really kicks in with the Platinum model. Ford has announced that it will be rolling out the new 2016 Explorer Platinum this September.

The Platinum starts with the Explorer Sport, including the 3.5L, 365 hp EcoBoost engine that version offers. Outside, there’s signature LED lighting, 20-inch two-tone wheels, and silver-painted details. Inside, Platinum buyers get real aluminum and ash wood trim, and high-end “Nirvana” leather with micro-perforations in ebony or ceramic colors. Those are black or beige to those of us who speak in normal colors. There’s also a large dual-panel moonroof overhead.
