A new Dubai-based car company called Jannarelly has turned up with a roadster called the Design-1. The car is incredibly sexy and has elements that hearkens back to some of the hottest cars of the late ’50s and ’60s. The company was founded by Anthony Jannarelly, the designer behind the W Motors Lykan and the Fenyr Supersport.

Apparently, the design of the front is supposed to remind of a 1957 Ferrari Testarossa. To my eyes, the car looks very much like a modernized Shelby. The car weighs just under 1,600 pounds thanks to a tubular steel frame and a fiberglass/carbon fiber body. It has a half-height windscreen, which means it’s more likely to be a track day driver, than something you’ll want to take a long road trip in.

The car doesn’t have a soft top option, but a removable hard top is part of the option list set for next year. Power comes from a 3.5-liter V6 out of a Nissan mated with a 6-speed transmission. Output is 304 hp and 273 lb-ft. of torque. That gives the car a 0-60 time of under four seconds, thanks to its light weight. Pricing for the base model starts at just $55,000(USD) and while built in Dubai, it is said to be street legal in the US.
