I am a big fan of minimal sports cars that are street legal, but really aimed at the track day fan. This includes cars like the Radical and BAE Mono. Those cars have a new competitor called the Drakan Spyder. However, rather than using a small engine with turbos or superchargers, the Drakan uses a large displacement American V8, mounted behind cabin.

Specifically, the turnkey version of the car gets a Chevy LS3 crate engine making 430 hp mated to a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission, the same gearbox found in a Porsche 911. The turnkey version of the car sells for $100,000, and only five are being made. A rolling chassis sans engine and transmission will set you back $80,000. That is a lot of money for a car from a company we have never heard of, but it definitely looks like fun.

Jay Leno got to spend some time in the Drakan when it rolled into his garage. Check out the video, and see what he thought of the car. If you want to skip over all the technical bits, skip to 9:15 for the driving footage.
