To promote its NX SUV, Lexus commissioned the artists of Hamilton Ice Sculptors to create a set of wheels and tires made entirely from ice. The finished product is pretty cool (see what I did there). The downside is that while I refrained from making any Vanilla Ice reference so far, that song will be stuck in my head all day (too cold, too cold).

Incredibly, the wheels were strong enough to support the over 4,000-pound SUV. To get the ice wheels to work, the entire vehicle had to be stored at -22 degrees Fahrenheit for five days before it could be driven.

Word is the car started the first try after sitting in the cold that long. The frozen wheels and tires were made using laser scans of the actual wheels and tires and were a perfect fit. Check out the video to see the ice wheels in action.
