As much as I like driving, I really like the idea of autonomous cars. I can see trips with the family being much more fun if I didn’t have to focus on driving and could focus on seeing the sights with my family. I’m looking forward to the day when I can get an autonomous car, mostly so I never have to be in the car with my wife behind the wheel again.

I’ve been less frightened instructing novice drivers at the racetrack at triple digit speeds than I am with my wife driving. We have talked about Mercedes’ take on the autonomous car in the past and it looks pretty cool. I like that the seats in front can face the rear seats for talking while the car does all the driving itself.

Mercedes-Benz’ F 015 Luxury In Motion autonomous concept car turned up in San Francisco for a photoshoot. Apparently, the car isn’t ready to drive or at least isn’t approved to drive itself around just yet. It was hauled on a trailer to shoot locations. However, lots of people on the streets took photos of the car and it did apparently move under its own power at some point.
