MINI Cooper 1499 GT Special Edition is a Throwback to 1969

One of the most iconic cars that Mini made was the 1275 GT back in 1969. MINI is showing off a new special edition to celebrate that classic called the MINI Cooper 1499 GT.

MINI 1499 GT buyers can have any color they want, as long as it’s black. The only shade is a Midnight Black Metallic color, and the car has Piano Black trim on the grille frame, door handles, and headlight rings. LED headlights and taillights are standard. The car comes with a John Cooper Works styling package, including special front and rear bumpers, side skirts, split-level spoiler, and door entry plates.

It comes standard with a six-speed manual, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is optional. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine making 134 horsepower and 162 pound-foot of torque. The car can reach 60 mph from a standstill in 7.5 seconds and reach a 130 mph top speed.

Inside the car are John Cooper Works Sports seats in black and a JCW steering wheel. The interior also has plenty of piano black trim and dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch navigation package, and a dynamic digital instrument cluster. The MSRP is $27,040 plus an $850 destination handling fee.
