MotorTrend has published a new video in its Head 2 Head series that pits the 2016 Mazda MX-5 against the 2015 Subaru BRZ. This comparison has been done in the past, but with the old MX-5. The new Miata is a much-improved machine.

Under the hood, the BRZ has the edge with 200 hp and 151 lb-ft. of torque from its flat four. The MX-5 by comparison has 155 hp and 148 lb-ft. of torque. Thankfully, the MX-5 is significantly lighter, making it better from 0-60 with a time of 5.8 seconds compared to the 6.3 seconds needed for the BRZ.

Check out the video to see which car comes out on top. I saw my first 2016 MX-5 in traffic this week; I loved it from all angles but the rear. The tapered rear end is not good looking to my eyes.
