I am a fan of cars that look like crap on the outside, and run like crazy at the racetrack. A perfect example is the latest car that the gang over at Motor Trend’s Roadkill has built. The project started three years ago when the guys wanted to build a late model circle track car, and drive it on the streets. The problem was the car had no VIN and couldn’t be insured.

The solution was to work out a plan to graft a 1970 Monte Carlo body onto the tube frame. That body has a VIN and allows the beater to be insured, registered, and then driven on the streets. The result is the awesomely ratty looking Nascarlo, rocking a 4-speed clutchless Jerico transmission that allows for quick bangshifts between gears. It was probably pretty heavy with that Monte Carlo body on it, but it fits right in with the looks of many of the cars I see driving around here in the South.
