Many folks out there believe that EVs won’t go mainstream until an affordable car with long driving range is available. Arcimoto, the company behind the SRK EV thinks that its vehicle might be the ticket. The little car can carry two people in a tandem configuration with seats behind each other and has two wheels in the front and a single in the rear.

The occupants are protected by a roll cage and the vehicle has two high-back seats with seatbelts. The car reminds me of a mash up of an EV, motorcycle, and golf cart. The base model of the ERK will go up to 70 miles on a charge thanks to its 12 kWh battery pack. Top speed is 85 mph.

An upgraded version of the vehicle gets a larger 20 kWh battery pack good for up to 130 miles per charge. Buyers can opt for doors and a roof to keep them out of the weather. Delivery services can also get it with a package shelf instead of a rear seat. The car is expected to come to market in the next few years.
