Stunning Remake of 1959 Ferrari 250 TRzoom in

Most replica cars blow, especially when the creators try to remake something iconic. And there literally isn’t anything more iconic than the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. From 1956-61, only 34 of the racecars were made, and last year a 1957 model sold for about $40 million.

By his own admission, the 250 TR is former DeLorean engineer Peter Giacobbi’s all-time favorite vehicle. And because he didn’t have the scratch to buy an original, he set out to build one himself. He lucked out big time when he found the body of a 1959 TR that had been sitting in a warehouse in Italy for about half a century, which gave him an authentic shell for his project. Giacobbi searched to find as many original parts as he could, and then fashioned the ones that he couldn’t locate with exacting detail.

The result is stunning. The unfinished aluminum exterior and interior have a fabulous patina, and the car really looks like the real thing. There is one big difference – he couldn’t get his hands on an original TR 3-liter V-12, so he had to use a more powerful 4.4-liter V12 (which sounds glorious on the 8.5 minute

As Giacobbi says in the video, it’s “a lot of fun to drive.” And it’s a joy to look at, as well.
