Lamborghini has come a long way from its humble roots as a tractor-building company. In its typically glorious review of the Huracán, XCAR takes a look back at the Italian automaker’s storied history and how the son of grape farmers built a motoring empire known around the world.
The Huracán is another masterpiece from the Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy-based manufacturer. Named after a breed of fighting bull (naturally), the Huracán replaced the already epic Gallardo. While taking a gorgeous Verde Mantis green Huracan for a spin, XCAR delves into a Cliffsnotes version of the carmaker’s past. Having made a fortune in manufacturing, Ferruccio Lamborghini spent his fortune amassing a massive car collection. However, over time, he became somewhat disenchanted with established carmakers such as Ferrari, and in 1963 decided to start his own automobile marque. Storied names such as Countach and Diablo established Lamborghini as a global icon, and daydream fodder for schoolboys around the world.
While it’s impossible to get a true feel for a car from a video clip, XCAR captures the menacing aura and ferocious exhaust note quite well as the V10 Huracán schusses through the countryside. Just witness the frightened sheep scurrying away from the roadside as the Huracán rockets past.
