Let’s hope we all get a chance to take the wheel of the 2016 Mercedes AMG GT-S. But in case that happy circumstance doesn’t arrive soon – or soon enough – the team at EVO took this beast for a spin on the seaside Anglesey Circuit track in Wales. And the brilliant yellow coupe they test drive in this video doesn’t disappoint.

The GT-S sports a new 4.0-liter, twin turbo V8 and a 7-speed clutch with a limited slip differential, delivering 456 horsepower and 443 lb-ft. of torque as a GT model, and a whopping 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque in the GT-S. The engine bears the AMG signature “one man, one engine” catchphrase, signifying that one master engine builder put the car’s mill together (and it bears his or her name on it).

With a chassis and body made from aluminum, Mercedes is striving for three characteristics: low weight, low center of gravity, and ideal strength. Considering that the AMG GT-S zooms from 0-60 in a mere 3.7 seconds, and clocks a top speed of 193 mph, they appear to have hit the nail on the head.
