Any real ’60s era Shelby Cobra is an iconic car and worth big money. Just imagine what the very first Shelby Cobra would be worth. That is exactly what RM Sotheby’s will be auctioning off in a couple weeks in Monterey. The car is a 1962 Shelby 260 Cobra CSX 2000.

It’s the very first of these cars made, and is being offered from the Carroll Hall Shelby Trust. The car is powered by a 260 hp, 260ci V8 engine with a single four-barrel carb, and a four speed manual transmission. The car rides on independent front and rear suspension with leaf springs and lower A-arms and front disc brakes with inboard rear discs.

I have no idea what this car will sell for and Sotheby’s has offered no estimates that I have found. It will certainly be very expensive considering the historical importance of the vehicle.
