Toyota Prius Nightshade Edition Brings the Blackout Treatment to the Hybrid

Anyone familiar with Toyota vehicles knows that the automaker has Nightshade versions of several of its cars and trucks. These versions take the shiny chrome bits and replace them with black ones, including blacked-out badges and trim. The latest car to get the Nightshade treatment is the Prius.

The Prius Nightshade is offered in FWD or AWD-e versions, both using a CVT transmission and 1.8-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine and a pair of motor-generators.  The Nightshade edition gets black headlight accents, mirror caps, door handles, color-keyed rear deck spoiler, and a shark fin antenna. Prius Nightshade FWD buyers get 17-inch five-spoke black alloy wheels, while AWD-e buyers get 15-inch wheels. A special interior with power-adjustable and heated front seats and a semi-gloss black center console is part of the package as well.

In addition to Midnight Black Metallic, the car comes in Super White and Silver Metallic which should contrast nicely with the black trim. Prius Nightshade marks the first hybrid vehicle to become part of the Nightshade family, and it will be available in the Fall of 2021. Pricing has yet to be announced.
