Turbocharger vs. Hydraulic Press

Turbochargers are very cool. They take something that is wasted (exhaust gasses) and use some magic to make your car go faster. I used to have a 1994 Spec Miata race car with a turbo, and I am here to tell you that turbo makes a huge difference in performance. The downside is that they are prone to overheating on the track. But overheating isn’t the only way to kill a turbocharger.

The guys over at the Hydraulic Press Channel are known for crushing just about anything and everything they can get hands on. And this time out they got their hands on a spare turbocharger and they smashed it to pieces. They spun it up for fun too, though it stopped spinning the second the press touched it.

Normally it’s your engine getting crushed by a turbo with too much boost. Crushing things with a hydraulic press is mesmerizing.
