I was never really a fan of electric cars. The fact that you can’t drive all you want, fill up the tank, and drive some more bothers me. I started to change my opinion on electric cars after the Tesla Model S debuted with a long driving range and impressive performance. Most of us can’t afford a Model S with those cars costing over $100,000 in some trims.

What many of us can afford if you want electric cars is the VW e-Golf. A new Limited Edition version of that car has debuted and you can buy it for $33,450 or lease it for $229 monthly. The car has a 24.2 kWh lithium ion battery pack and comes with a standard 7.2 kW onboard charger.

That charger can get the battery to 80% capacity in 30 minutes. The car has an electric motor that produces 199 pound-feet of torque and 115hp. The EPA estimates the car can go 83 miles on a single charge. While that isn’t Tesla territory, you could buy three e-Golfs for the price of a Tesla and go about 250 miles.
