Chevrolet has taken the 2017 Camaro ZL1 and put it on the Nürburgring for a fast lap. It turns out the 2017 version of the ZL1 is much, much faster around that track than the 2015 version. How much faster you ask?
The 2017 ZL1 is a whopping 11.67 seconds faster than the prior generation ZL1’s best lap time. The new Camaro benefits from a significantly improved chassis and weight reduction all around. The lap time for the new ZL1 was an impressive 7:29.60. That puts the ZL1 right in the mix within a few seconds of some of the fastest cars around The Ring, beating supercars like the Koenigsegg CCX, the Mercedes AMG GT S, Lexus LFA, and Porsche 991 GT3.
The car in the video is using the new 10-speed flappy paddle transmission; getting around with the manual gearbox would likely be slower. I’d be so mad if I purchased a 2015 ZL1 right now.
