2017 Lincoln Continental Packs Comfort, Tech, Performance

Lincoln hasn’t made a Continental in a long time, but back its heyday, it was one of the firms most storied nameplates. The Continental has returned, with its big debut at the 2016 NAIAS.

The car offers elegant looks, and lots of fancy little touches, like LED signature lighting, mat lighting to illuminate the pavement when approaching the car, and doors that can electronically close and cinch into place.

The new Continental will launch this fall and will use a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 making 400 hp and 400 lb-ft. of torque. Buyers can get the Continental in AWD with Dynamic Torque Vectoring to improve cornering by sending power selectively to the rear wheels. And Lincoln’s Drive Control system offers adaptive damping, with adjustable settings for everyday driving, comfort, or sportier ride characteristics.

The exterior looks elegant, especially with that new grille up front, but the interior of the car is where all the luxury is packed. The car has what Lincoln is calling “Perfect Position Seats,” inspired by private jets and fancy office furniture – each allowing up to 30 different adjustments, along with available heating, cooling and massage features.

The rear seats are spacious, and rear passengers have their own AC controls in the drop down center console.

The car is packed with high tech conveniences and safety features. A top-of-the-line Revel audio system is designed to provide a completely custom, audiophile grade listening experience. Lincoln also fits the car with 360-degree camera system and 180-degree side mirrors.
