Fans of wagons don’t have a lot to choose from here in the US. If you liked the looks of that sexy Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, VW has announced that production of the 2017 version of the car has commenced in the US. The car gets all-wheel drive and additional ground clearance so it can go head to head with the Subaru Outback.
I happen to think the Alltrack looks lots better than the Subaru Outback, so there’s that too. Alltrack buyers get an off-road mode with hill descent control and traction control optimizations. Lots of available driver assistance features are offered including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking.
Power for the Golf Alltrack comes from the a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder TSI engine making 170hp and 199 lb-ft. of torque. The launch version will be paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Buyers will be able to opt for a 6-speed manual at a later date. I would love to see a hopped up R version of this car.
