Chevrolet has announced new versions of their Tahoe and Suburban that will bring a bit more performance to the big SUVs. When equipped with the Performance Package, the RST (Rally Sport Truck) will be come with a 420hp 6.2L V8 engine, performance-tuned Magnetic Ride Control, and the same Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission found in the Camaro ZL1.
The SUV has all of its chrome bits eliminated, with a body color grille surround and door handles. The grill and mirror caps are gloss black. It rides on RST exclusive 22-inch rims.
Buyers can also opt for a Borla exhaust system promising another 7-10 horsepower. For those that really want the performance looks, front red caliper Brembo six-piston brakes are available. Chevy figures the performance-equipped RST Tahoe will reach 60mph in under 6 seconds and can tow 8,400 pounds. There’s no word on pricing for either vehicle yet.
