2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST Promises 664 Horsepower

Ford was the first mainstream automaker to step into the electric truck realm with the F-150 Lightning. Chevrolet has revealed its first electric pickup with the 2024 Silverado EV. The truck will initially come in a fleet-oriented Work Truck and high-end RST trims. In RST trim, when optioned with the Wide Open Watts Mode, the Silverado EV will produce up to 664 horsepower and over 780 lb-ft. of torque.

GM estimates the Silverado EV RST can reach 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds at that power level. The standard Work Truck model will offer 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft. of torque. That version of the Silverado EV can tow 8,000 pounds and has 1,200 pounds of payload capacity.

RST versions of the Silverado EV can tow up to 10,000 pounds with a maximum payload of 1,300 pounds. While Ford offers different size battery packs, Chevy is starting off with a single 24-module offering, with an as-yet-unspecified capacity. The automaker estimates both the Silverado EV in Work Truck and RST trims will go 400 miles on a charge. The electric truck also supports standard DC fast charging at up to 350kW and has optional 10.2kW onboard power.

The truck also gets a 17-inch diagonal LCD infotainment screen and an 11-inch diagonal reconfigurable driver instrument display. The Silverado EV RST also has Super Cruise, a hands-free highway cruise control that even works when pulling a trailer. RST First Edition models come with some impressive additional features, including four-wheel steering, automatic adaptive air suspension, a multi-flex midgate, and an available multi-flex tailgate.

The Work Truck starts at as little as $39,900; however, a fully loaded RST First Edition will sell for $105,000. Chevy promises various other configurations, including a Trail Boss model, with prices from $50,000 to $80,000. All prices are before destination and freight charges. Reservations for the Silverado EV can be made here, with order banks expected to open in the spring of 2023.
