40 Millionth Ford F-150 Rolls Off the Assembly Line

As expensive as trucks like the F-150 have become, it might be hard to imagine that the F-150 is still the most popular vehicle in America. Ford points out that the F-Series has been the best-selling truck in the US for 45 years and the best-selling vehicle for 40 years. The automaker has announced that it has built the 40 millionth F-Series truck since the series began production in 1947.

This week, the 40 millionth F-Series truck rolled off the assembly line. It was an F-150 Tremor painted in Iconic Silver. If you are wondering if the 40 millionth truck will be snagged by the automaker and placed in the museum, it won’t. Ford says the particular truck was sold to a customer in Texas.

Ford began producing the F-Series trucks in 1947, and they went on sale in 1948. The first F-Series trucks included the F-1, F-2, F-3, and F-4. Production of that first-generation F-Series trucks spanned from 1948 to 1950.
