“It’s almost like taking a vacation after going for a drive in a car like this,” says lucky 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback owner Addison Lee. Heck, just watching this Petrolicious report on Lee’s classic American muscle is a brief, relaxing escape from the daily grind.
Lee learned about cars alongside his gearhead father Don, working together to build the ’65 Mustang when the younger Lee was growing up. The father-son bonding over greasy car parts and at historic races led Addison to a passion for racing which he continues to this day, competing in SCCA races and endurance contests.
“If you put sweat equity into something, you’ve got a meaningful investment and you’ll take care of it,” says Addison’s father Don. “He really took care of this car, and still does. It means something to him.” Before burning out to end the clip, Addison says, “With vintage cars, it’s more the story behind the car than what is on the surface.” Not that this Mustang’s surface isn’t mighty fine, too.
