A lot of details have been surfacing about the Dodge Demon, well in advance of its official reveal at the New York International Auto Show this April. For instance, we just found out that the bulk of the weight savings Dodge has touted will only come if you get the car with just a driver’s seat. If you needed any more proof that Dodge was planning to make the Challenger SRT Demon a straight line king, just look at the tires that the car will come with.
The beast will ride straight from the factory on 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R drag radials. If you don’t know what a drag radial is, think a massive slick with just enough grooves in it to be DOT legal.
Those tires will be fitted to lightweight 18×11 wheels and some massive fender flares were needed to fit the tires under the car. I’m more than a little bummed that ditching the seats is where the weight savings comes from. Still, this will be a beast at the drag strip. Could the Demon be a 10-second factory car?
