Why didn’t EVO think of this sooner? In a new series they’re calling “Drag Battles,” EVO will be pitting automotive rivals against each other in a straight sprint to glory. To kick things off, they square off the all-wheel drive Nissan GT-R Track Edition against the much more expensive, rear-wheel driven Porsche GT3 RS.

Which car wins? Let’s just say, you get what you pay for. You might expect the all-wheel-drive Godzilla to beat the GT3 RS off the line, but apparently lighter weight trumps drivetrain, as the Porsche leaves its Nissan rival in the dust and never looks back. In fact, it’s not even close, with the Porsche putting a nearly a half-second into the GT-R over the 800 meters sprint.

Did the Porsche have better tires? Did the Nissan driver incorrectly set up launch control? Enjoy all the conspiracy theories in the comments on the Youtube page.
