I’ve been to more track days than I can count, and what I can tell you is that most of the people turn up in pretty normal cars with better brake fluid and brake pads to hoon about. Every now and again, the well-heeled will roll up in an 18-wheeler and roll out a real racing car. This means that every Miata driver for the remainder of the day has their sights on passing said racer, even if said racer is slowing to pull into the pits.
Last weekend, there was a public track day at the Nürburgring, and among the Renaults, BMWs, and other everyday cars on track was a full on racing team, who brought their Ferrari 488 GT3 race car. Fortunately Supercars from EU was on hand with his video camera to capture the action.
Needless to say, the beast dominated the track. You always think you are fast right until a racing Ferrari makes you look like a noob in your stock Miata. Check out the video and see people trying their hardest to stay the hell out of the way of that monster. The Ferrari is sponsored by Octane 126 AG and will be entered into the Nürburgring 24-Hour race. Apparently, they wanted some more testing, and this public track day was as good as any to get it done.
