There is a very hard and fast rule on every racetrack that I have ever visited. That rule is never ever (Ever, ever, ever, ever) get out of your car on the racetrack unless it is on fire. If your car catches on fire and you have to get out, you certainly don’t stand on a corner waving your arms like an idiot.
Why do you not get out of your car or stand on the inside of a corner near the track in shorts? Because you might get run over when the other novice drivers who don’t look at flag stations fly around the corner, hit the same oil spill that caused your BMW to slide off the track at speed.
If this dude hadn’t jumped the wall in the nick of time, he would be nothing more than a little greasy spot on the runoff area now. I am always amazed at how lax the Nürburgring seems on safety. This sort of stupidity would get you a permaban from any real track in the States.
