LEGO has been steadily ramping up its stable of automotive Technic sets, and its latest offering is equally amazing and daunting. It’s a 1:8 scale model of the McLaren P1 comprised of 3,893 pieces.
While they do look like Bay’s Transformers with their large panel gaps, the overall design of LEGO Technic cars still captures the look of the actual cars, and this one’s no different. Just look at the detail on the mid-mounted V8:
Aside from the engine, prepare your glasses and fingers to put together the 7-speed gearbox, the adjustable rear wing, and of course the butterfly, er billionaire, doors.
To make the assembly a bit easier, there will be a rotatable 3D model with building instructions for the collectible in the LEGO Builder app.
Man, those wheels look amazing. The LEGO Technic McLaren P1 will be available August 1, 2024 for $450. Each unit has a serial number, which is indicated in a unique tile. LEGO says that ID will also give owners “access to exclusive online content.” Hopefully that includes a store where you can get lost pieces.
