If you need the space of a mid-size SUV and you want some performance too, Mercedes has rolled out its first entry into the segment. The car is called the Mercedes-AMG GLC43. Motivation for the SUV comes from a 362 hp bi-turbo V6 engine backed with a 9G-Tronic transmission.
The V6 engine makes 384 lb-ft of torque and can push the GLC43 to 155mph. The vehicle can hit 60mph in 4.8 seconds. The gearbox offers faster than normal shift times and the AMG Performance 4Matic AWD system is tuned for a rear bias for sporty cornering. Air Body Control with adaptive damping suspension helps the SUV handle better.
Other features include a three-stage ESP system and larger brakes. The GLC43 also gets AMG styling with distinctive front and rear bumpers and special tailpipes. The car is also gifted with 20-inch AMG wheels and a special AMG instrument cluster. The interior is also a special AMG design featuring black with red trim.
Pricing is unannounced and the car is due to hit showrooms by the end of 2016.
