I have been on the track with driving students and behind the wheel on more than a few occasions when the car has spun out. It’s not so bad when I am behind the wheel, because I know what I am going to do. It’s nearly fun when you can spin, drive right back on track, and keep going.
When I am riding with a student and they spin it’s another story altogether because you never know what a novice will do when the car spins and they are more worried about denting their ride than keeping you safe. I’ve never been involved in anything as spectacular as what stadium truck racer Sheldon Creed went through recently.
He messed up a landing in his truck after a jump coming to the checkered flag and things went sideways- literally. The truck rolls, hits the wall and just when you think he is out of the race, literally at the checkered flag, the truck lands on the wheels and drives off like a boss without losing a place. Talk about zero f*cks given.
