Tesla has replaced the Model S 60 entry level EV with a new AWD base model called the Model S 70D. This EV is made to be green, but in Tesla form it also packs a punch – with a not-too-shabby 329 horsepower.
The Model S 60 was a rear wheel drive car and it is no more, as I said. Since the base model for the Model S is now AWD, there’s also been a slight price increase. The old RWD 60 sold for $69,900 and the new 70D base price is $75,000.
That base price include a new standard front motor and more power compared to the 302hp the Model S 60 offered before, and now has a 240 mile driving range. The model S 70D can rocket to 60mph in 5.2 seconds (vs. 5.9 seconds in the S 60), with a top speed of 140 mph. It’s not exactly an P85D, but it’s certainly a nice bump in power for the price.
