Nissan created the 2024 Nissan Z Heritage Edition to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the car’s grandaddy, the S30 Datsun S40Z. But for those who are disappointed with the vanilla Z’s goofy robot face, the tribute’s horizontally-split grille is a limited edition apology.
I do think the Heritage Edition’s fascia is much better than the standard one. It’s a lot sportier and has a more interesting shape than the EV-ish rectangle on the standard Z models. Unfortunately for those who also dislike the Z’s headlights, those squinty things are here to stay.
Beyond that much-needed facelift, the Z Heritage Edition of course mimics the OG 240Z’s bright as hell orange paint. It also has beefy overfenders, retro 19-inch wheels, and a smattering of unique decals, including a huge sport stripe that runs from the hood down to the hatch.
Beneath the cosmetic upgrades, the Heritage Edition is based on the Nissan Z Performance trim. That means you get a 400 horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, a mechanical limited-slip differential, Akebono calipers, and either a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission.
The 2024 Nissan Z Heritage Edition should be available to order this fall starting at $59,135, which means you’ll be paying around six grand extra for the facelift, but still a bit less than the Z NISMO.
