Ineos Automotive announced Wednesday that its first vehicle, the Ineos Grenadier, will have a starting price of $71,500 in the United States, and C$91,929 in Canada for its base model, the five-seat Grenadier Station Wagon.
The Grenadier Trailmaster, built for professionals, and Grenadier Fieldmaster built for off-roaders, will both start at $79,190 in the U.S.
Customers can pre-ordering the Grenadier through the Ineos’ online configurator, which goes live on May 31. In the meantime, you can reserve a spot until it opens. The company says that existing reservation holders, of which there are thousands, have priority for when their vehicle will be built.
Orders will then be finalized with U.S. retailers, who are expected to be announced in August. Expect vehicles to be delivered by the end of the year in the U.S., and in the first quarter of 2024 in Canada.
The Ineos Grenadier is built at the company’s factory, which it acquired from Mercedes-Benz, in Hambach, France. Production started in October 2022 for European markets.

Like Belstaff waxed outerwear jackets — another Ineos brand — the Grenadier is engineered to last according to the company and has the same uncompromising attitude as its outerwear, which is the Grenadier Trailmaster is named after the Belstaff Trailmaster Jacket, created in 1948.
This Grenadier is designed to tackle the most extreme off-road conditions, and is fitted with the Rough Pack, which adds electronically activated front and rear differential locks and the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. It’s also fitted with a raised air intake, exterior utility belts, and an auxiliary battery. Its also pre-wired electrical access points making mean fitting lights and other powered easy.
Like the Trailmaster, the Fieldmaster is also named after. Belstaff outerwear, but is meant for the customer who needs the assurance of being able to go anywhere at any time, but maybe not to the extremes of a Trailmaster customer. It comes with more creature comforts, including Safari Windows, leather upholstery offered in two colorways, carpet floor mats and heated front seats.
About the Grenadier
The vehicle being built is the Ineos Grenadier, a body-on-frame SUV with a body comprised of steel and aluminum and a look that recalls the previous-generation Land Rover Defender as well as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It employs a box section ladder-frame chassis, permanent four-wheel-drive, up to three locking differentials and solid beam axles. The undercarriage has front and rear skid plates, rock sliders, as well as protection for the oil pan, transmission, the three differentials and the fuel tank with up to four mil grade steel.
Under the hood you’ll find a BMW turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine and ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shift capability, 2-speed Tremac transfer case, three locking differentials. The driveline produces 282 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque and has a 7,700-pound towing capacity. A manual transmission will not be offered. A diesel engine will be sold in most markets, but not the United States or Canada due to the difficulty meeting emission requirements. It has a 35.5-degree approach angle, 36.1-degree departure angle and 10.4 inches of ground clearance.
What is Ineos?
Ineos is a privately-held chemical firm, ranked as the third largest in the world, with $65 billion in annual sales, 25,000 workers, and 39 businesses in 31 countries. It’s the parent company of the new automaker, which was established in 2017.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of Ineos, had the idea for the new business endeavor as a true replacement for the previous-generation Land Rover Defender, which ceased production in 2016.
The SUV is named after his favorite London pub, which Ineos now owns.
Ineos Automotive has set up its North American headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. Ineos expects to have 35 U.S. retail partners, mostly in the smile states. Also, Ineos has reached an agreement with BMW fort routine maintenance, so servicing shouldn’t be a problem.
